1. (of a woman) having a pleasantly plump figure.
2. full-bodied; well-proportioned.
Zaftig is a Yiddish word, variously translated as juicy, luscious, or ripe. It derives from the Old German, saf, or juice. As applied to a woman, it means buxom, voluptuous, bosomy, or rubenesque.

The Zaftig Redhead -- political, opinionated, and redheaded -- a dangerous combination tailor made to speak truth to power. The problem with politics today is that it's become more about complex plans and partisan bickering than about the basics of kitchen table economics and overcoming the hurdles of everyday life. You don't have to learn the ins and outs of politics to participate in a meaningful way; instead it's time politicians learned about us -- We, the People. Of course the deficit is Bush's fault.
The reason no one saw it (or the reason people ignored it) is because President Obama actually had the courage to put the costs of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan on the books.
